Cherry-Picking Intel and Memos

Posted by madjillmom on April 24, 2009

Pres. Bush is accused of cherry-picking the intel to justify the Iraq war.  Now Dick Cheney is saying that Pres. Obama is cherry-picking the torture memos by only putting out the stuff that looks bad, not the stuff that says it was effective to use the so-called torture.  Same old, same old.

Pres. Obama and Truth Inquisitions

Posted by madjillmom on April 24, 2009

Pres. Obama has removed his nose from Moveon.org’s butt and decided that he really isn’t in favor of prosecuting previous administration officials over the Torture memos he shouldn’t have released in the first place. It seems he or his people saw a poll on the subject and decided to make another u-turn.

Meanwhile, the administration has released other pictures of dubious treatment of prisoners because the ACLU wants everyone to see them. I don’t want to be the mother of the next few soldiers that find themselves in the hands of our enemies. When they are killed in far more awful ways than we can imagine, much less read about in the NYT, we can thank the ACLU and the Obama Administration. This includes Robert Gates who decided to quit fighting the fight to keep them from being released. Too bad for someone. Oh yeah, that would be us.

Swine Flu

Posted by madjillmom on April 24, 2009

There is a swine flu outbreak in Mexico and some is in Texas. Janet Napolitano should spend the weekend studying up on it so she doesn’t blame Canada.

I seem to remember being vacinated in the last swine flu scare probably in middle school (jr. high). Lined up and got a shot at my mother’s employer. Does this seem right or is my mind playing trick on me.

Please Torture Me

Posted by madjillmom on April 23, 2009

I am having a bad day, but this has caused me to smile quite a bit.  I and my children now request that the Obama administration use these enhanced interrogation techniques on us as soon as possible.  My nurse, Husband PoopyHead, might breakdown and request such treatment also.  Please give this a read.

The Obama Doctrine

Posted by madjillmom on April 23, 2009

We are closing in on 100 days with our new President.  He is now defining his foreign policy.  Here is how it reads to me:

Kinder- He won’t torture and , to appease Moveon.org, he might prosecute those who in the previous administration who said it was OK to torture. Heck, he won’t even make them remotely uncomfortable.  He will also ignore our own advisers to put out memos (lets make the last administration transparent), and against experts advise, he might free dangerous Guantanamo detainess onto American soil and give them welfare to boot if necessary. He is much nicer than that last cowboy guy.

Weaker- He believes in the power of the UN and weakly worded messages to missile launching, population starving, short dictators.  He needs 17 agencies to decide to blow away a handful of  teenage pirates.   Other pirates will be subpoenaed.  He seems willing to let 3 young women rot in jails in evil countries without any real plan to get them freed.  He grins as dictators dress down America and joins the Hugo Chavez book club.

Apologetic- Lots of stuff happened before Obama was President and he is not responsible for any of it.  He will apologize for all of it.  That way the world will like him us better.

I fear that all of this will be embolden those who want to hurt us.  I further fear that the Utopian naivete of this administration will beclown the US in the eyes of the world.  I thought he would be a bit better on all of this, but he isn’t.  I keep hoping that behind the scenes someone is playing hardball, but I don’t get that feeling.  The enemy isn’t the Bush Administration, but the terrorists that want to kill or convert us all.

Obama and Cheney and Torture

Posted by madjillmom on April 21, 2009

Last week Pres. Obama disclosed the torture memos, against his own and all the recent CIA leaders recommendations.  He did it to placate the left wing nutroots.  Then, last night, Cheney ups the ante on the game by demanding that Obama release the memos that show that the torture worked.  Now, Obama has answered by backing off his pledge to not prosecute those involved.  Call your lawyers Mr. Cheney.  The left is salivating.  They will take back everything they ever said bad about Obama if Cheney is prosecuted.

The so called torture that the powers that be engaged in isn’t a big deal to me.  I think a little torture is OK in the smallest of circumstances.  As it was used in these cases.  It isn’t great, or good, but it may have been necessary.  If the Obama administration wants to spend the next 3 1/2 years prosecuting Bush administration officials, he will rue the day he upped the ante.  He has just effectively neutered the CIA and all other intellegence agencies.  We will rue the day Pres. Obama did this.  The bad guys know that we won’t even endeavor to make them eat their oatmeal without raisins now.  Good job, Mr. President.  The world loves us now.  They won’t cut off our heads now.

Pres. Obama loses PR War with Dictators

Posted by madjillmom on April 21, 2009

No, I don’t think that Pres. Obama is cozying up to Hugo Chavez, Daniel Ortega, and the Castro brothers.  However, I do think that Chavez and Ortega got the best of the Pres. with their very public handshake and diatribe against the US.  It seems that Obama, the master of the press, had no real plan to come away from the inevitable meet, greet, and listen up sessions at the Trinidad Summit.  He didn’t even manage his old standby during the Ortega rant.  You know, the scratch your cheek with your  middle finger extended.  The same thing he did to Hillary and McCain.  He needs to know when to stop apologizing, when to stop making it about himself  (I wasn’t even born then), and when to give a stern warning or look that someone is crossing the line.  Perhaps Obama doesn’t know where to draw the line.

Axelrod, Garofalo and Little Ol’ Me

Posted by madjillmom on April 20, 2009

In regards to the 250,000 people who took time out of their busy lives, here is the considered opinions of those who really count:

Jeneane Garofalo: tea party participants are “racists who hate black President”

David Axelrod: “I think any time you have severe economic conditions there is always an element of disaffection that can mutate into something that’s unhealthy.”

Guess this means I am an unhealthy racist. What about you?

Don’t Blame Him

Posted by madjillmom on April 20, 2009

Pres. Obama has made it clear that while he will apologize for all wrongdoing done by the United States of America, he is not personally responsible for anything that happened, including those things done by other during his lifetime. He is also not actually responsible for anything that his been done since Jan. 20, 2009. All the bad thing were George Bush’s fault.

Obama said he was glad that Daniel Ortega’s rant did not reflect on him as he was only 3 years old or something. Does he really think that this apologizing will result in him receiving more respect and love from the rest of the world.

Study War No More – Close West Point

Posted by madjillmom on April 20, 2009

I am on the warpath about Tom Ricks opinion piece in the Washington Post titled Why We Should Get Rid of West Point .

Yes it would save some money to close the academies.  But it would also save a boatload of money to close Harvard (Ricks alma mater).  Harvard is a very expensive place to be educated.  For what is spent to educate one young, impressionable pup at Harvard, you could probably educate 20 other students at a community college.  So lets close Harvard.  West Point and the other service academies are a great value for the United States.  Better than Harvard.

Ricks further faults the teaching at West Point, saying there aren’t enough PHDs on staff, so our young people aren’t challenged enough or taught to the standards Ricks would like to see.   I wonder what his evidence is that the academics are less than they should be.  Has there been a study comparing  a group of Harvard juniors to a group of West Point cows.  No, there hasn’t.  He believes there aren’t enough blowhard liberal PHDs with young pup liberals swooning at their liberal dogma, not enough challenging of the professional military class.  That is a load of bunk.  My son is a junior(cow) at West Point.  His education is diverse, tough, thought provoking and well rounded.  He is learning so much, giving up a lot to have this kind of college experience and he will be putting his life on the line after his graduation in May of 2010.

If Ricks thinks that those who attend the Service Academies are not educated alongside doctors, lawyers, judges, mayors and congressmen and the like, he is mistaken. Does he think there are not doctors, lawyers, mayors being educated at West Point? Why would he think this? Perhaps his education at Harvard wasn’t as good as he believes it to be. Ricks also seems to think Gen. Petraeus is only valid because of his Princeton degree. That is just wierd.

Ricks also wants to close down the War Colleges that educate officers.  Evidently, Ricks doesn’t want a professional military.  Yes there are and should be more than one route to being a high ranking officer in the military.  Up from the ranks, from ROTC programs, and from the Service Academies.  Not one of these ways produces a cookie cutter military elite.  Somehow, I just think that Ricks wants us “study war no more”.  Why?  To save a few bucks.  Or does he somehow believe that a professional military makes for more wars?

By the way, Ricks just wrote some story about how Ivy League grads are going into the military because they haven’t been challenged enough in civilian life.  I haven’t read that article.  I guess he was against that too. He must consider it a waste of their fabulous education.  I don’t believe that Harvard and several other elite university’s allow ROTC on campus.
