Obama Wants to Kill Texans

Posted by madjillmom on August 9, 2011

Texas is baking.  The heat of this summer is worse than ever.  Obama has given the overzealous Environmental Protection Agency the go ahead to shut down electricity production in Texas.  When this is done, a summer like this one will resort in blackouts and brownouts.  The cost of electricity will “necessarily skyrocket” and those who are poor will suffer the most.  This would result in lots of deaths in Texas.

The EPA wants to shut down coal-fired plants.  They say the little children will die of asthma if we don’t.  The little children will die because they are in airless rooms in 100 heat with no electricity.

Nothing new.  Obama hates Texas (NASA, the oil industry, electricity production, military contracts, low taxes, employment gains, etc.)  Gotta let illegals vote so he can win again.

Joplin, Mo

Posted by madjillmom on May 24, 2011

Trying to keep up with news as I walk thru the Nashville Airport. I keep seeing that Michele Obama is having problems with the wind on their trip to the UK. First it was her hair, then her full-skirted dress.

I keep thinking the people in Joplin, Missouri have had some wind trouble also. Sometimes it is hard not to feed the Irony Monster.

Burning the Bible

Posted by madjillmom on April 2, 2011

If a Bible is pried from the hands of a Christian who was killed for being a Christian in an Islamic country and then burned or defaced, do the Lutherans in Des Moines gather and behead a few foreigners in a riot?  Gotta love that Religion of Peace.

Will the non-extremist Muslims now condemn these killer riots?  Waiting to hear.

Japan Disaster

Posted by madjillmom on March 14, 2011

Perhaps Japan is best able to handle the horrible devastation that has befallen them.  The devastation and loss of life is horrible.  Compare and contrast the situation to Hurricane Katrina.  Two natural disasters and two different responses.  There are shortages reported in Japan.  The people affected are waiting patiently in line to receive aid.  There is no screaming, rioting, or looting reported.  There is no befouling of emergency shelters.  No people ranting at the reporters that Japanese rulers hate “yellow” people.  Not much public whining and crying though there must be so much pain and suffering and sacrifice.

I believe there is no real welfare culture in Japan.  No whole class of people used to their government providing for their every need and want.  My perception of Japan is an industrious people working hard to better themselves and their country.   I would think that there are a lot of people in Japan who aren’t happy about the official response, but they are probably stepping in and doing what they can instead of waiting for the government to come in and fix it.

If this disaster happens here, I don’t think things would be going so well.  I am also certain that there would be lots of hand-wringing and whining by a large group of people feeding at the government trough.  They will want to be saved rather than take steps to save themselves.  This doesn’t bode well.

Why is Andy Stern on this Committee?

Posted by madjillmom on September 29, 2010

Andy Stern, former leader of SEIU. was appointed to the National Committee on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform by Pres. Obama.  This is the committee that will give recommendations to congress on cutting the deficit sometime in December.

Andy Stern left SEIU in April.  While he was their leader, SEIU debt grew from under 10 million to over 100 million.  The pensions were left in a mess also, with massive underfunding of the rank and file members pensions.  Stern’s pension was completely funded, in fact, it was funded at 102%.  So why is this man on any committee to reduce the nation’s deficit?

Check the Washington Post on Andy Stern.  Check Michelle Malkin on some of Andy’s other deeds.

AARP Commercials

Posted by madjillmom on August 15, 2010

I will never join AARP.

Their new commercials push just how great a life you can have if you belong to AARP.

Pet Peeve:  They send me solicitations to join that leave the impression that I have joined already.  It is deceiving.  They shouldn’t operate like this.

The Forgotten Man

Posted by madjillmom on July 25, 2010

My husband and I started reading The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression by Amity Shlaes. The introductory chapter has some definite parallels to the current administration. It is a little like reading Atlas Shrugged.

A History of US

Posted by madjillmom on July 4, 2010

Channel surfing brought me to this series, based on the book set, A History of US. It would be a good choice for the day. I first learned about these books after they were published on Book Notes on C-Span. I was a faithful watcher. When we moved to our current house, the books served as our curriculum for a year of home school for our kids. We read them all. They were great, even though there is a bias of the author against Reagan that comes through at the end. Flash forward to today.

I had heard this is a great series on the History Channel. I tuned in in time to see Custer blow it at Little Big Horn. Now I am watching the late 1800′s and the rise of industrialism in the US. It would be a great series if whoever produced it had resisted the urge to put celebrity interviews in segments. The story of the Statue of Liberty features Meryl Streep. The story of the influx of immigrants around the late 1800′s features an unintelligible vignette from Michael Douglas. I keep shaking my head at their inclusion. Since the series is probably playing out in chronological order, I have probably missed the part where they interview Meg Ryan on the assassination of Lincoln. Darn. They should have left the vignettes to the professors, biographers, and historians. Not celebrities.

Happy 4th of July

Posted by madjillmom on July 4, 2010

Interesting to Note:
About a week ago, our oldest son (a new 2nd Lieutenant) was preparing one of his wool berets for use. This preparation involves shaving a massive amount of fuzz from the outside of the beret. Then you dampen it and weigh it down. Then after this, he put it on his head for further shaping. I went upstairs, he was sitting at a desk with his beret on his head. I couldn’t help but notice a tag peeking out from under the back. It said “Made in Vietnam”.

As a further aside, the large telephone books that he used to weigh down the beret stayed on the kitchen counter for close to a week before I put them up. As Glenn likes to say “the country’s in the very best of hands”.

Will the Left Lament Byrd and not Cheney?

Posted by madjillmom on June 28, 2010

I hate to even think this. As I looked at the news crawl on the TV, I wondered for a moment about them both being admitted to the hospital this past weekend. How long before someone wishes it had been Cheney?
