Pres. Obama’s Address to the Nation lacking in Details

Posted by madjillmom on February 25, 2009

Where are the details?
Omnibus Pork you will cut?
Educational programs that don’t work you will cut?
Military procurement on last century’s weapons you will cut?
Healthcare programs you will start?
Social Security Reforms?

It seems to me he is saying that he has his people working on this stuff and he will get back to us on the details. Goody.

  1. Ben said

    Take-aways from President Obama’s speech:

    1. He will run the banks from now on. If you had any doubt before, it is now removed.

“We will act with the full force of the federal government to ensure that the major banks that Americans depend on have enough confidence and enough money to lend even in more difficult times. And when we learn that a major bank has serious problems, we will hold accountable those responsible, force the necessary adjustments, provide the support to clean up their balance sheets, and assure the continuity of a strong, viable institution that can serve our people and our economy.”

    2. He missed the part in Economics 101 that protectionism is bad. He believes Americans should spend their technical expertise making batteries likes the Koreans instead of on bigger and better things.

New plug-in hybrids roll off our assembly lines, but they will run on batteries made in Korea. Well I do not accept a future where the jobs and industries of tomorrow take root beyond our borders – and I know you don’t either. It is time for America to lead again.

    3. He believes he has inherited a large deficit instead of multiplied it by the stroke of his pen. He also believes that it is unsustainable. However, logically, this does not mean he will curtail spending – but instead he will raise taxes on the “rich.”

    It’s going to be a long four years . . .
