Open Up ACORN’s Books

Posted by madjillmom on May 28, 2009

O’Reilly asked the kind ladies of ACORN if his people could see the books of the private corporation that all ACORN + 200 other lefty orgs send their money to. They said he couldn’t. The corporation that runs out of New Orleans receives millions of taxpayer dollars that are probably laundered and go into some union leaders or civil rights leaders pockets. It is a shell game. The IRS and the Justice Dept. should check into it, but they won’t. Stay on it Beck and O’Reilly. This stuff needs to be uncovered. If it was OK to send buses to the AIG execs houses, should we charter a bus to see how the leaders of these so-called community service groups live? Take a few pitchforks. The umbrella corporation that is receiving the money was started by the same guy that started the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and we all know that union leaders are never corrupt. SEIU is knee deep in Obamaland and Chicago politics.

Book Club Getaway

Posted by madjillmom on May 28, 2009

I am going away with some of the ladies in my book club. We don’t have a book to talk about, but we will have wine, food, a river to float, a shop or two to see, and some time to relax. There are nine of us going. We will be the pack of wild women with the cellulite. Stay back, it could be catching.

Laptop Arrives

Posted by madjillmom on May 27, 2009

I have been waiting a long time to get a laptop.  Today, my laptop arrived.  This is my first post on it.  I am in my bed, watching Glenn Beck instead of 12 feet away, tethered to the small confines of a built-in not meant for a computer, housing the oldest computer in the house, in front of our closet door.  Yahoo!  One of the dogs is sleeping beside me, having a dream.  Gosh, I hope this works for me. I may never get out of bed.

I really got the urge for a laptop after driving from Texas to West Point to deliver one of our cars to our oldest son.  My sister, Kay, and I stayed in hotels along the way and it was hard to not have real access to the net and the info that is so helpful when you travel.  When we arrived in Newburgh, we had to go to the local library, get a temporary card, wait an hour, then go to hotels.com to get a decent rate on a room.  I vowed to never do that again.  So now, I won’t.  Plus there is no way to be a “real blogger” if you can’t be portable.

Benefits of Marriage

Posted by madjillmom on May 26, 2009

The CA Supreme Court upheld Prop. 8 but let gay marriages made during the time stay valid.  In an interview on Fox, a gay guy said something along the lines of there being 1000 benefits to marriage over civil unions.  I sure would like to see that list.  While I do believe in marriage between 1 man and 1 woman, I don’t know how you get to an enumerated 1000 benefits.  I don’t have the list.  I could use that list on some days.  It would make it easier.   Perhaps there are discounts at Denny’s that I haven’t known to ask for.

Salt Rising Bread

Posted by madjillmom on May 26, 2009

When I was young, we used to buy salt rising bread.  I think it was only made on certain days and that it may have come from the Piggly Wiggly.  My sister, Kay, who remembers everything could tell me where we got it.  I do not think it was from a bakery.  Wherever it came from, it was wonderful.  I crave it at least once a month and I haven’t had any in at least 35 years.  I checked the web and got a few recipes.  Evidently, others feel a strong love of salt rising bread.  It is the best toast of my life.

I used to make sourdough bread and regular bread.  I need to try to make some salt rising bread though it is a notoriously hard to do.  It may have some German roots.   It may be the only way I ever get to eat it again.

Pres. Obama blames Bush for Supreme Court Pick

Posted by madjillmom on May 26, 2009

He can’t help himself.  Even when he is doing something to curry favor with the left, he is now so programmed that he once again blamed a Bush.  It was Bush 41 who appointed her to the court.  It gets kinda funny.  If he had a skin cancer or cavity, I think he would blame it on a Bush. The far left is thrilled.  The only thing that would make them happier is if the Judge actually came out of the closet.  (No, I have no idea if she is or isn’t.)

So much for not feeling a need to bow to the demographic Gods.  He hit the daily double.  A woman and a Hispanic.  That is about it as far as diversity is concerned.  I do not know just how much empathy an unmarried woman who is not a mother has.  I know women like that and there is a singular nature to them, not considerate of others because their daily lives do not require it.  She is a northeastern liberal,Ivy league educated person.  That won’t provide for much diversity.  She will replace the only member of the court who is not married and does not have children.  This will leave one mother on the court.  Being a benevolent auntie is not the same as being a mother.

The court screams for some other type of diversity that won’t ever be addressed by Obama or any other President.  Eight of the court members were Harvard or Yale educated.  Only one served in the military as a member of the California National Guard in 1961.  Only one has worked for a corporation, Monsanto.

This will eat up lots of press time and distract the public from the N. Korean debacle in progress. Yesterday, Obama wagged his finger and then went to play golf.

Obama Wags Finger at North Korea

Posted by madjillmom on May 25, 2009

Pres. Obama is once again relying on the UN to handle this situation.  He just doesn’t get it.  His people didn’t even see it coming.  If this isn’t weakness, I do not know what is.

TV Obama

Posted by madjillmom on May 22, 2009

I should have guessed we were in for this.  During most of last summer, his campaign bought a whole channel on Dish Network to endlessly play video campaign stuff.  That was obscene.  Evidently the press is not as accommodating as Pres. Obama thinks it should be.  The White House is now producing its own stories with video and audio that they are playing on Youtube and whitehouse.gov.  The press is starting to take notice.  The press pool cameras were shut out of the basketball game with the NCAA Womens Champs.  It was edited by the White House.  It was taken by a camera man paid for by taxpayers.  So now we don’t know if Obama missed a shot or elbowed one of the girls in a foul.  There are at least 4 reasons why this is wrong.

1.  If you feel the need to put fluffy pieces on the website and Youtube, go ahead.  But don’t shut out the so called real press.  That just isn’t right.  Isn’t this in the Constitution somewhere, Oh Great Constitutional Professor Obama.

2.  State run press works well in the old USSR, Russia, China, Cuba, and Venezuela.

3.  Why should we be spending money paying a videographer, editor and whatever when things are so bad.  Perhaps Pres. Obama could go through the Whitehouse budget and find the line with those expenses and cut them.  Plus, he should remember what happened to John Edwards when he got a videographer to document his campaign.

4.  It is extremely arrogant.
