Since last Monday, we have had internet problems.  Somehow, for the first time  in 8 years, we have overused the satellite internet for which we pay dearly and will be operating at dial up speed for the next three weeks at least.  This is driving me round the bend.  I am telling myself to calm down, breathe deep, read a book, etc. 

I thought the stimulus bill was supposed to fix this internet divide with better service to rural customers.  A nearby very small community phone company has run fiber optic cable to every dinky rundown farmhouse and will probably be providing real service for their customers soon.  We, however, are a captive of AT&T and won’t ever see any upgrades until every city dweller is served with high speed internet at a competitive price.  Meanwhile, we pay through the nose some more, waiting for the promises of Obama. 

By the way, the guy in charge of AT&T, non-provider of rural upgrades, is now in charge of GM.  Pretty soon, rural drivers won’t have choices in car buying or will have to pay more than the people in the city. cars.
