Ft. Hood Terrorist Paralyzed

Posted by madjillmom on November 23, 2009

I can’t say I am very sorry about the news that Major Hasan is paralyzed. This fact alone will probably mean that he won’t get the death penalty. If that is the case, it is too bad. As it stands now, this jihadist (who has been given every advantage as well as a good paycheck and an education at the taxpayer’s expense) is now lying in an Army hospital and receiving treatment for his wounds. The Army is footing this bill. Major Hasan is probably still receiving his paycheck. Army nurses and doctors are changing his diapers and administering his meds. With any luck, a member of our great military will be changing his diapers for the rest of his life. Too bad that will be too long.

Today, one of his victims was buried at Arlington.

Decision on Afghanistan – Still Voting Present

Posted by madjillmom on November 23, 2009

Another meeting in the situation room with more fiddling while Rome burns. Perhaps another striking photograph of all the particicpants looking serious and thoughtful. Perhaps even one of the President looking out his window pensively while he struggles with the decision. Not holding my breath that Pres. Obama can make this decision in any timely fashion. Where is the new strategy? Is he just waiting out the possibility of winning? My guess is that he doesn’t have the balls to go against the left wing of his party. Trying to wait until the dems fall on his sword for healthcare?

Billable Hours and the 9/11 Conspirators

Posted by madjillmom on November 16, 2009

Attorney General Eric Holder’s tortured decision to try Khalid Sheikh Muhammed in civilian court is going to backfire on the Obama administration. At the outset, Holder is saying that KSM will not be acquited. Doesn’t that make it a show trial with a predetermined result? Further, how can KSM receive a fair trial in NYC? I guess it won’t be a fair trial. Do you want to serve on that jury, sequestered for months on end in a NYC hotel? The taxpayers will pay for that bill too.

Most galling to me is the certain knowledge that we as taxpayers will get to pay for the squad of New York attorneys for KSM. Discovery alone will eat up millions of dollars and a maximum of time even prior to a show trial with maximum bloviating by KSM and his cohorts. A military tribunal would cost the salaries of the military lawyers (who are already being paid thus no extra expense) and be brief and to the point. Think about an OJ type trial with the constant press 24/7. Our best hope is that KSM and crew want to plead guilty and be martyred. Somehow, I don’t think they will pass up the chance of a show trial for martyrdom.

Afghanistan Decision Slipping Again

Posted by madjillmom on November 10, 2009

For more than 6 to 8 weeks, we have been told that a decision on more troops for Afghanistan is just a few weeks away.  So many things for Pres. Obama to do, so little time.   The President will now be presented with 5, not 4 different plans and it will not be announced until after his trip to Asia starting on Nov. 12.  I just went to the briefing on the White House website, trying to figure out why the decision has to wait until after this trip.  I am clueless.  I don’t believe that anyone he is meeting with on this trip has anything to do with our military strategy on Afghanistan.  He is meeting leaders in Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, China, and Russia.  Why does this important decision have to wait for those photo ops with foreign leaders?  This slipping decision time continues to make our Commander-in-Chief look weak and in over his head.

Multiple Choice on Afghanistan

Posted by madjillmom on November 10, 2009

News is bubbling up that Pres. Obama will receive 4 different scenarios for troop levels/plans for Afghanistan. He chose McChrystal to give the best plan. I guess that didn’t please him or the great military strategist, Sheriff Joe. Now he wants not the best idea, but four ideas to continue mulling, slowly. As a State Senator, he often voted “present”. Now he has graduated to multiple choice. How about “E. I just can’t seem to make up my mind?

The Cavalry, the Indians, and Pres. Obama

Posted by madjillmom on November 10, 2009

It seems extremely ironic that last Thursday, as the home of the 1st Cavalry was being attacked (by and member of the Religion of Peace), Pres. Obama was meeting with the Indians/Original Americans/Native Americans.  He is now at the memorial service for the brave people in our military.  If he lectures us on not rushing to judgement, I will scream.  If he brings up Health Care, I will scream.

Many know of his short presser after the attack where he stupidly laughed and gave shout outs to some of the Indians in the audience.  He even incorrectly identified the honor that he recently gave to one of the Indians.  Not a Medal of Honor, but a Medal of Freedom.  If Bush had done this, we would never hear the end of it.

With the economy, health care, the environment, and two wars, as well as a drubbing on Election Day, I wonder what the conference with the Indians was and why it was some king of priority right now.

House Health Care Bill

Posted by madjillmom on November 8, 2009

This whole past week, the Dems have been holding press conferences touting how they have saved us all from a fate worse than death by passing this massive bill to fix all things. How wonderful. They are so busy patting themselves on the back it would almost be funny. They are acting like we can all go to the Dr. on Monday at no expense. This is so bogus. The House passing this travesty is only one leg of a three-legged stool. Two more to go, the Senate and our President. Hope it doesn’t get that far. Hope the House members face the music in 2010.

Terrorism at Ft. Hood

Posted by madjillmom on November 8, 2009

I have been thinking about this horrific act of terrorism since it happened.  It is terrorism, plain and simple, because a man who benefited from the greatness of our country chose to payback those benefits by perpetrating a terrible premeditated act upon the heart of our Nation.  It was an act of cowardice.  Major Hasan has the notion that Muslims should rise up against the aggressors (us).  He spoke about  his religious convictions in inappropriate settings, and complained to his family about harassment .   He had other avenues,  but he chose to perpetrate an act of terrorism.

Deployment is a fact of the military.  If you aren’t willing to go to war, then do not join the military.  There is no draft.  The military is all volunteer.  Do not whine about being deployed for your first time as a Major.

I know that the Army is deeply concerned over suicide among the ranks.  It has been a top priority of the Army to help soldiers better deal with multiple deployments, stress, and family issues.  Major Hasan had no family issues.  He didn’t have a long suffering wife and children to orphan.  He hadn’t been deployed even once.  It is a wonder he made Major.  As a psychiatrist for the Army, educated at Army and taxpayer expense, he was probably a part of the Army wide initiative to prevent suicides.  He could have gone to his superior and told him he was having suicidal thoughts.  He probably would have been pulled from deployment, hospitalized, and possibly released from the Army.  He chose not to do  this.

He could have gone to his superior and told him or her that he could no longer had allegiance to the United States and that his allegiance was to Islam.  He would have possibly been jailed or released with a big bill for his education.  He chose not to do this.

He chose to kill those he worked alongside as well as civilians in the name of a perversion of his religion.

Were there alerts that Major Hasan was becoming a Muslim extremist?  There were several time that people wanted to file reports of his inappropriate speech. But the Army is very sensitive to religious persecution, so some of the concerns were probably stifled.  There needs to be a better path for reasonable complaints to be filed.  No concerns about political correctness or CAIR  filing suit when a legitimate concern arises.  This is not just an Army problem, but a problem throughout out country.  If Major Hasan was experiencing comments or harassment, all he had to do was file a complaint.  This was one of his issues according to his cousin.  Somehow, an act of terrorism is justified in some minds because Major Hasan was possible harassed.  All people in the Army are harassed at one time or another.  If you are persecuted, make a complaint.  Major Hasan chose another way to handle it.  Too bad for Political Correctness.

The people he injured and killed are heroes.  He is a coward.
