Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Just in Time for Afghanistan

Posted by madjillmom on January 30, 2010

Thank goodness that Pres. Obama is now committed to repealing DADT. Now openly gay men and women can go to Afghanistan and help with this problem of sexual identity thing that some Pashtuns suffer from. Thank goodness there are men and women that are familiar with this problem willing to serve their country and help their fellow men with this closet issue.

Interrogating the Christmas Undie Bomber

Posted by madjillmom on January 27, 2010

It comes out that the administration is now admitting to only 50 minutes of interrogation of the Christmas Undie Bomber.  Robert Gibbs has told us that they were able to get all there was to get from him in that 50 minutes.  It takes me longer than 50 minutes to find out who ate the candy bar I left on the counter. It takes a few minutes to set up the waterboard.

Pay Czar Executive Compensation Clawbacks

Posted by madjillmom on January 21, 2010

The Obama Pay Czar is coming around to trying to get compensation clawbacks from executives of large banks and possibly AIG. Will there be clawbacks required from the political appointees that have run Fanny and Freddie into the ground? Or GM and Chrysler? I won’t hold my breath.

Jobs report comes in bad. Obama announces new restrictions of large investment banks after trotting out a new tax on the banks last weekend. Thank goodness everything is going so well.

Slap Obama

Posted by madjillmom on January 21, 2010

“If there’s anybody in this building that doesn’t tell you they’re more worried about elections today, you absolutely should slap them,” said Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.).

Pres. Obama and his administration are spinning the victory of Scott Brown in Massachusetts as a positive for Obama, once again claiming that it is the fault of George Bush. The line to slap Obama forms to the right.

Dems Lost Cachet

Posted by madjillmom on January 20, 2010

Pres. Obama campaigned for Corzine, Deeds, and Coakley. Bill Clinton campaigned for Coakley. The Kennedy clan campaigned for Coakley. Have they all lost their cachet?

I predict Harry Reid will not run for re-election due to health problems? I think Boxer is feeling a chill about now, too.

Scott Brown = Senator Hunk

Posted by madjillmom on January 19, 2010

Dear Dems:

Please do not ask for whom the bell tolls. Keep your heads down, double down, keep listening to Rahm and Valerie. They know best. It isn’t a referendum on the President. Remember in the spring when you all thought Obama’s personal popularity was a mandate. Keep it up. It’s working really well.

Haiti and Homeland Security

Posted by madjillmom on January 14, 2010

This morning, Pres. Obama hauled part of his cabinet and Sheriff Joe to the podium to tell us all that our priority now is Haiti. In this group was Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Homeland Security. Does the President think that Haiti is one of the 57 states? We are just a few weeks past the Christmas terrorist attempt on Northwest Airlines. We are a few months past the killing of 14 by a home-grown extremist. There was epic failure on Christmas, according to the President. It would make us all feel good to help out in Haiti, but doesn’t Homeland Security have enough to do at this time. Is Homeland Security priority in Haiti? Isn’t it the State Dept. that is responsible for our citizens abroad? I do not think that muslim extremist are breaking out in Haiti. I wonder how the Katrina refugees will feel when money and resources go to Haiti. I feel bad for the people of Haiti, but wonder what can be done to when a country has failed on so many levels. If we can’t fix New Orleans, how can we fix Haiti?

It also seems that Pres. Obama has also told us that the economy and jobs are their first priority. Oh, yeah, don’t forget Obamacare.

Cosmo’s Sexiest Man ’82 Can Take Down Obamacare

Posted by madjillmom on January 14, 2010

A few nights ago, while reading Althouse, I learned that the Republican candidate for the Mass. Senate seat was chosen as the sexiest man in ’82. I am not sure how the candidate handles this bio point, but I feel that he could be crowned sexiest in 2010 if he wanted to. In ’82, men were more manly than the current crop of androgynous  pretty boys that would be chosen by Cosmo editors now. While I cringe when I think of Helen Gurley Brown drying out while pedaling soft core smut, there was a time when such a display of manliness was of interest to me. I hope he wins. If I had a little extra money, I would send it to this guy. He would be way easier on the eyes than Teddy was for the last 3 decades. Take a look at Scott Brown’s Cosmo pictures if you were as curious as I was.

Game Change: John and Elizabeth v. Palin

Posted by madjillmom on January 10, 2010

For the last week, several blogs and tv programs have features this new book, Game Change. For the first 5 days or so, all I heard about was the “revelation” regarding Sarah Palin calling Joe Biden “O’Biden”, something that Palin herself had already written about in Going Rogue. This story has been passed around as proof positive that Palin is an idiot. Whatever, not real proof or real earth shattering. But now, I have read an excerpt from the book regarding the Edwards Campaign. OMG!! I am now certain that the press will knock over a real story to pursue a non story to discredit Sarah Palin.

I have heard for several years about the long suffering Elizabeth Edwards. How wonderful she is. If 1/10th of this story is true, she is a nut-case just like her husband’s mistress and all the people who witnessed this stuff firsthand should thank their lucky stars that Obama won. I am not thankful that Obama won, but given the Edward’s saga, better Obama than John. At least I was wise enough to vote for Hillary in the primary.

Pres. Obama Says Do More Better

Posted by madjillmom on January 7, 2010

The proposals given out by the President this afternoon sound strangely unspecific with no real indication of where the process failed or slipped through the cracks. He basically said the following:

We are at war. Thanks for letting us know.
Go faster. Analyze quicker.
Go bigger. Spread the info out to more people.
Put someone in charge of possible terrorists.
Most Muslims are not terrorists.
The buck stops with the President but let’s not assign blame to any of my people if they are responsible, after all, we usually like to blame Bush/Cheney.

OK. I know I feel much safer now. Oh, and how about these questions.

Why wasn’t Abdulmutallab’s visa pulled the first call from his father? Is there an explanation from the State Department? Why wasn’t he pulled out of line and given further examination for just buying a one way ticket for cash and having no luggage?  Did he want to board without passport and then produced one to board?

I know, Pres. Obama won’t rest until we are all safe and the wheels of bureaucracy are turning efficiently thus minimizing the likelihood of another such episode as happened on Christmas day. Six hours of golf in one day is not resting. It is really hard work.
