Obama’s Commencement Addresses

I’ve heard recaps of Pres. Obama’s two recent commencement addresses. Last week, he basically told a graduating class the those who oppose the great increase in the size of government oppose all the wonderful things government provides including the wonderful college you are graduating from. A few days ago, he told the graduating class of a black college that they needed to beware of I pads, I phones, video games and technology that might give you a point of view that doesn’t jive with the administration’s view of things. Yes, he was preaching moderation and critical thinking in what you ingest from electronics. That is a good thing. It is also kinda ballsy to bemoan electronic media and blogs when such things were used prominently by the campaign that put you into office. Something about the pot calling the kettle black.
In a few weeks, we will be attending Obama’s commencement address at West Point, one of the nation’s great institutions where all the students are supported by taxpayers in exchange for military service. I am working hard to prepare for a fine speech, filled with lofty rhetoric, praising large government that can limit graduate’s time on video games and the internet.
