Andy Stern, former leader of SEIU. was appointed to the National Committee on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform by Pres. Obama. This is the committee that will give recommendations to congress on cutting the deficit sometime in December.
Andy Stern left SEIU in April. While he was their leader, SEIU debt grew from under 10 million to over 100 million. The pensions were left in a mess also, with massive underfunding of the rank and file members pensions. Stern’s pension was completely funded, in fact, it was funded at 102%. So why is this man on any committee to reduce the nation’s deficit?
Check the Washington Post on Andy Stern. Check Michelle Malkin on some of Andy’s other deeds.

I do not like Halloween. Never have. I take too many magazines. All the October issues have far too much decorating ideas featuring spiders, skulls, witches, and all manner of food prep for creepy looking stuff.
I also hate the Christmas cookie issues. Don’t bake cookies. At least 5 mags will have lots of cookie recipes in the December issues. How clever.

The United Nations has appointed an official point person to greet any incoming aliens.
The Democrats are inviting Stephen Colbert to pontificate on migrant farm workers.
Priorities are really an issue here and in the world.

I remain conflicted about the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy of the military. Now, I have a screaming Lady GaGa to guide my conscience and the lives of the military. She tells those in the military who don’t want to defend the right of gays to serve openly in the military, to get the hell out. I guess she is a little unclear on that time commitment that those in the military have to go by. Since she is obviously an expert on the military, perhaps we should call her General GaGa.
I can’t wait to see the new recruiting poster featuring Lady GaGa. She’ll have long lines of people rushing the recruiting stations for a chance to be all that they can be outside of the closet.

The man who taught us to question the meaning of “is” now is giving us his insight into the Tea Party movement. On the one hand, he says the tea party members are mad about the greedy wall street fat cats. Then he says the tea party apparatus will result in more power in the hands of those fat cats.
Has Bill Clinton ever been to a Tea Party event? Don’t think so. Yet, he feels that he can feel their pain and that pain is too much capitalism, unfettered markets, and the need for more regulations. Weird. I though it was less government interference, smaller government, and lower taxes.
Thank goodness that Bill Clinton is around to let us know why we are so mad, leaning toward craziness and extremism.

“My Daddy gave me this Senate seat, and I want to keep it. Screw the voters.”
Charlie Crist, Mike Castle, and Lisa Murkowski are all classless egos.
Support Joe Miller.

The Republican Senate Campaign Committee showed itself to be very petty to announce 10 minutes after O’Donnell’s primary win over Castle, that they would not invest funds in her campaign against the Democrat. When they do stuff like this, they give the press a field day. Plus, it looks bad to announce to the country that she cannot win. Senator Cornyn, one of my senators, has been off the mark several times before with who and how they support the republican candidates. Also, I think Karl Rove didn’t help in any way. Probably feel the same about Charles Krauthammer, who I generally believe is the smartest guy in the country.
At least give some time to analyze the numbers from last night. Then do not make an announcement either way.

Two members of the Congressional Black Caucus have been found to have funneled scholarship money to their close relatives and relatives of their staff. Al Sharpton’s foundation has been audited and they are near bankrupt due to financial misdeeds.
Another member of the Congressional Black Caucus is in charge of the country. Great.

Pres. Obama announced today that Austin Goolsbee, an academic, will replace Christina Romer, another academic, as his new chair of the Council of Economic Advisers. I guess that deck chair was rearranged.

Pres. Obama likes to talk of the issues with absolutes and straw men. He now likes to say that the choice is between the unregulated markets and industry that Republicans want and the regulations that he and his have just invented in the last 19 months. Evidently, he thinks that all or none is the choice. We have had regulations in industry and financial markets since at least the Great Depression. Obama’s black and white view is really simplistic.
