Mohammad, My Son

Posted by madjillmom on November 29, 2010

It seems to me that if you name your son Mohammad, you mean for him  to be religious.  When your last name is Mohammad, you should maybe expect to have them go somewhat radical.  In Europe, Mohammad is the most popular male name for babies.  Aren’t you pretty much pushing an agenda with this.  Can you then claim that you were surprise when the boy took an extremist bent, wanting to blow up the infidels?  I guess you have no control over your last name, but if you name your son Fred, I think he might be less inclined to radicalism.  I really do not understand this prevalence of naming your son after the prophet.  In Dearborn, MI, when a mother comes to the front door and calls for her son, how many Mos look up.  It seems confusing and presumptuous all at the same time.  Of course, my son Jesus and his twin brothers, Cain and Abel belies no agenda on my part.

Govt. Wage Freeze

Posted by madjillmom on November 29, 2010

Wow.  I guess it is better than doing nothing.  Pres. Obama tells government workers their generous wages will be frozen for two years.  I suppose they will continue with their generous pensions also.  What a great hardship.  Some of the people in the private sector should take up a collection so those poor government workers can get their regular raises.  I am not real impressed with Obama’s first attempt to reign in the cost of government.

North Korea Needs Attention

Posted by madjillmom on November 23, 2010

Two short, fat leaders of N. Korea are demanding Obama’s attention.  Just yesterday, Hillary went on record to say how there is a concern if eye-witness reports of their nuclear program’s sophistication.   Today, there are missiles killing S. Koreans.  Both Obama and Hillary have sat back quietly while N. Korea threatens the world, sinks ships, and elevates a 20-something to the status of General to take over after the little dictator dies.   Daddy gave the Army to Sonny Boy.  Wonder if he is just playing with it now.

Will Obama do anything about it?  Can he go up against China?  Another great day for Obama to impress us all with his nuanced foreign policy.  Someone remind him we have troops in the DMZ, please.

Obama’s Book for Children

Posted by madjillmom on November 18, 2010

Since becoming President, Obama has repeatedly told us that various things have been his highest priority.  You know, health care reform, getting the car out of the ditch, lowering unemployment, beer summits, running two wars, picking up Nobel Peace Prizes, etc…  Someone with Lexis/Nexis access could tell us how many times he has said something is Job 1 for him.

Now we learn that Obama is fulfilling the contract he signed for $500,000 just before becoming President.  Somehow, he has had time while fixing the country to write a kid’s book.  Maybe he dictated it while on the golf course.  This man is truly amazing.  What is in the book  is  pretty interesting also.  I can’t think of any other President who has written a book during his term.  I think there many have been a Clinton book that was just a policy paper issued for boosting his re-election.  Children’s books have been the dominion of First Ladies.  Does Michele have a book contract?

Dance, Bristol, Dance

Posted by madjillmom on November 17, 2010

I do not watch Dancing with the Stars.  I have seen probably 1 minute worth of clips on the news showing Bristol Palin over the last 6 weeks.  Of those clips, I can honestly say that the most recent clip showed a much improved Bristol.  I have seen earlier clips that show  her dancing way better than I ever could, though she wasn’t what I would call fluid. Evidently, the longer she goes, the crazier the Palin haters get.  That is a shame.  I was prodded to post this because of a great paragraph from Althouse.  Here it is:

“Maybe she will! Congratulations to the shy, unassuming teenager who didn’t particularly ask to be thrust into the spotlight 2 years ago, who went through an accidental pregnancy in front of millions of people (many of whom didn’t mind insulting her in any manner they found amusing), who didn’t hide herself away in shame, and who tried, again, in front of all of us, to dance. How many of the people who snipe at her, are too big of a pussy to dance anywhere, including on crowded dance floor at a local club?”

If you want to see the entire post regards Bristol, go here.

Knickers in a Knot – Pat Down or Naked X-ray

Posted by madjillmom on November 16, 2010

When I boarded my flight out last week from a small nearby airport, I was patted down by a woman.  It wasn’t a problem.  My only wonder was why I was chosen for pat down since I didn’t set off the metal detector.  I would also easily do the x-ray thing that gives someone a pretty good look at everything.  I am willing to do both these things as necessary to have the privilege of flying somewhere.  If you don’t want either experience, then travel a different way.  The groin check is now necessary due to the underwear bomber from last Christmas. I will be very pissed off if there is an exception made for Muslim women. Flying is a privilege, not a right. If they need to see what is in my jeans, then they need to see what is going on under the burqa.

No Demand for Small Business Loans

Posted by madjillmom on November 9, 2010

Pres. Obama pats himself on the back for a recent bill to free up more capital for small business.  There are indications that the money is easier to get.  Only problem is there aren’t many small businesses that see a need to get these loans.  I guess Obama doesn’t understand that people are reluctant to increase their debt in a time of uncertainty.

Sniper Vandalism on Military Targets

Posted by madjillmom on November 5, 2010

I have a suspicion that the sniper vandalism on buildings with military ties (Marine Museum, Pentagon, Marine Recruiting Offices, Coast Guard Recruiting Offices) has something to do with “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.  The first few target were associated with the Marines.  The Marine Commandant is the only high-up that has publicly stated that he is not in favor of the repeal of DADT.  Also, the gun shots started about the same time as the judge suspended DADT and the Obama admin filed to have that ruling suspended.

I think I would feel better if it was DADT than something else much uglier.

Obama’s Trip to India

Posted by madjillmom on November 5, 2010

I know that all President’s have to travel around the world.  I know that such travel is expensive.  All the talk of helicopters disassembled and put back together, Taj Mahal Hotel bought out, 3000 others on the trip are a concern in light of the sluggish economy.  I do not know what are normal precautions for a Presidential trip.  I hope Obama has a big score while he is there that will make it seem that this was a necessary and needed trip at this time.  Maybe he can bring back some of those computer customer service centers.

Election Post Mortem

Posted by madjillmom on November 5, 2010

1.  I am glad it is almost over.

2.  So sorry Harry Reid won.  What a dreary fool.

3.  Dino Rossi in Washington State has been gypped out of more positions.

4.  California deserves its upcoming demise.  Gov. Moonbeam, Di Fi, and Senator Mam can can all go down with it.

5.  Republicans, do not screw this up!!!

6.  The Republican Senatorial Committee should be helping the Republican that won the primary in Alaska, Joe Miller.

7.  If you are a candidate in the primary, and you lose, support the person that won.  They were the people’s choice.  Do not muck  things up by running as a write-in or “independent” after you lose the primary.

8.  Do not try to co-op the tea party candidates that won.

9.  Even if you are still  sharp and cogent, do not run for office after ages 75.  Move over and let someone else take up the flag and run.

10.  Barney Frank is a big crybaby.  Massachusetts deserves him.

11.  Obama’s car analogy has been hijacked and the Republicans and their old ideas are going to try to get the car out of the ditch and back up on the road going to the right.  Obama is asking Michelle if it is OK if he has a Slurpee.
