Remember when we had nightly updates on casualties in the Iraq war.  Remember how this constant reminder of how awful Bush’s wars were was front and center on a nightly basis.  Though no war should be popular, this certainly went along way to making these wars very unpopular.  Now that Afghanistan is Obama’s war of choice, we don’t hear much about casualties.  Not even when 6 soldiers from the 101st are killed one day last week.  Casualty figures no longer serve the narrative of making Bush unpopular so there is no need to report on casualties anymore.
