Tina Brown says Obama Doesn’t Get it Done

Posted by madjillmom on November 30, 2011

This is what famous liberal elite Tina Brown says that makes my recent point.  On today’s Morning Joe on MSNBC”

“And I think knowing how to exercise power is absolutely crucial. He doesn’t understand how to underpin his ideas with the political gritty, granular business of getting it done. And that kind of gap has just widened and widened and widened. And so that every time there is a moment, a window where he can jump in, like something like a Simpson-Bowles as well, he just doesn’t do it. He hangs back at crucial moments when you have to dive through that window.”

Obama is Not a Grownup

Posted by madjillmom on November 30, 2011

PresBO is eager to run against a “do nothing” Congress.  He and his minions like to portray him as the only grownup in the room of partisan children unable to accomplish anything.  Here is the problem with this scenario.  He isn’t in the room.  He is on the golf course or campaigning.  He never enters the room.  Proclaiming yourself the grownup means that you have done what it takes to fix the situation.  Obama isn’t fixing anything.  He stamps his feet but offers no real solution.  He is the invisible President.

Since he has been President, he has been missing when heavy lifting is needed.  He farmed out the original stimulus to the Dems in congress and passed it with no Republican support.  No heavy lifting.  Just rammed through by the Dems.  Same with Obamacare. No heavy lifting on immigration reform. No leading on the budget problems and deficit spending.  Turn it over to the Deficit Commission and then ignore the results.  No heavy lifting.  Then turn it over to the Super Committee and do nothing to make it so.  Again, no heavy lifting.  Nothing on paper, no phone calls, no arm twisting, nothing…

Being the grownup means solving the problem, not campaigning on the sidelines.  Obama is not a grownup problem solver.  The only thing he actually leads in is campaign appearances.  He is way ahead of all the other Presidents in this area.

Goodbye to Barney Frank

Posted by madjillmom on November 28, 2011

Barney Frank has decided to not run for Congress.  He says it is because of the Republicans.  I think it is because it is much harder to find new boyfriends when you can’t get them a cushy job at Fannie or Freddie in this new atmosphere of scrutiny of the quasi-governmental tax sucking agencies.  He is a power junky who is losing his power.  Good Riddance, Barney.

NBA Seasson, Afghanistan and Pakistan

Posted by madjillmom on November 28, 2011

I sure appreciate PresBO coming out with a statement on the announcement that there will be an NBA season starting on Christmas.  I am so relieved to know this.  So happy that PresBO will have some recreation after the first of the year.  Something to do with those long boring hours running down the Republicans.

So don’t worry if you have someone currently in Afghanistan, someone you love who might not have access to the supplies they need to continue the war in Afghanistan.  Don’t worry that they might not get the food, ammo, gasoline, and healthcare the troops might need.  Remember, the NBA games will be available to watch while your worry.

Wasn’t this President the one who understood Pockeestan?  He vacationed their during college and that was used to boost his foreign policy bona fides.  If a member of my family were in Afghanistan, I would want PresBO to speak up about the supply lines to Afghanistan and not the shortened NBA season.  No wonder he thinks were aren’t strong, our President is more concerned with the NBA (rich guys playing ball than winning the war in Afghanistan.

Turning In My Neighbors to Homeland Security

Posted by madjillmom on November 24, 2011

They must be shorthanded in Washington at the Homeland Security Department.  Perhaps Sec. Napolitano didn’t put enough people on the Thanksgiving shift.  I have been calling and calling.  The trees have lost some of their leaves and I can see the driveway next door.  The people who live there are very nice.  But I feel I should turn them in.  They are frying their turkey.  I’m pretty sure that this is a violation of some sort of terrorism statute or the Patriot Act.  Why else would Homeland Security spend time and money warning us about this style of bird preparation?  I really don’t understand it.  I am practicing telling the news cameras how shocked we are that Corky and Judy are somehow tied into terrorism.  We would have never suspected if Homeland Security hadn’t figured out this devious practice, we might not have known that our neighbors are somehow a danger to the nation.

Obama’s Stimulus Jobs cost $242,000 each

Posted by madjillmom on November 23, 2011

Remember the $800 billion stimulus that came in Obama’s first month as President.  It was a Democratic Gimme List shoved through with a promise that unemployment would not go over 8% if passed.  Obama’s experts told us this.  Flash forward three years.

Politico has an article about the Congressional Budget Office numbers regarding jobs and that first stimulus.  Turns out, under the best possible scenario, the stimulus provided 3.3 million jobs.  At worst, it provided 500 thousand.  These are pretty broad highs and lows.  So, lets use the rosiest scenario of 3.3 million jobs.  The cost of each job was around $242,000 each.  The “experts” around Obama like to tell us that taxpayer government money handed out in stimulus has a multiplier effect over the actual amount handed out.  In other words, $1 handed out by the government really benefits us by the tune of $1.50 in magic ways.  So, $242000 should have given us 5 straight up decent jobs at about $48,000 per person.  With the multiplier effect, it should have been about 6 decent jobs – teacher jobs, fireman jobs, policeman jobs.  So, by my estimation, the stimulus should have resulted in about 6 jobs instead of the one job per $242,000.  That would be 3.3 million times 6. That would be 19.8 million jobs rather than a puny 3.3 million jobs.  Epic fail, Obama.

Of course, after seeing how the first stimulus worked out the only real thing to do is try again with another stimulus under the guise of Obama’s Can’t Wait Jobs Bill.

Can Frank N. Stein beat Obama in 2012?

Posted by madjillmom on November 22, 2011

I find it hard to commit to any one Republican candidate.  I would like to make a new candidate using the best parts of the current crop of candidates.

Here is what I would want:

  • Doggedness  and bluntness from Michelle Bachmann
  • Folksyness from Cain and Perry
  • Newt Gingrich’s debate ability and brains
  • Cain and Romney’s business experience
  • Paul’s libertarian views on the constitution and his desire to cut full departments (though I do not want his foreign policy stuff)
  • Santorum’s experience in the congress plus his quiet staunch conservatism
  • Perry’s willingness to address Obama’s policies as socialism – a brave move
  • Romney’s focus on Obama as the one to confront

Meet Frank N. Stein, a more perfected candidate to my way of thinking.  Remember, any of them is better than what we have.  So  whoever comes out is my choice.  The best way to perfect the one candidate is to pick a great VP.  Almost anyone will make Sheriff Joe look like the buffoon he is.

Fannie and Freddie Bonuses

Posted by madjillmom on November 16, 2011

Regarding the Fannie and Freddie bonuses, and especially because these quasi-governmental entities are requesting $13 billion in taxpayer’s and China’s funds, I will go in and unplug everything and turn off the lights.  I will only charge them $1 million.  Better yet, I will unplug Barney Frank for no additional pay. Now that is a bargain.

Waste, Fraud, and Abuse

Posted by madjillmom on November 10, 2011

President Obama signed an executive order in front of a beaming crowd to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.  He made it look like he was signing an actual bill.  He wasted some pens with his staging.  He wants to look like he is doing something to cut down on the government. If you go to whitehouse.gov and search “waste and fraud” you will find hundreds of announcements telling us how they are gonna cut it.  Remember when Sheriff Joe was gonna keep the stimulus from wasting money.  Then health care reform was gonna do it too.  Even as recently as 4 or 5 months ago, Obama appointed another board to deal with waste and fraud.  They always talk about it, but rarely does it impact.  Waste is $70,000 dollars worth of Obama books handed out in the State Department.  Waste is loans to most green companies and buyouts of car companies.  Waste is another Air Force One trip to call for passage of another wasteful stimulus package called a jobs bill.  Waste is another government committee/Super Committee after the Debt Commission did the job already.  Waste is $16 muffins.  Keep talking about it and don’t really do anything.  After all it is the speech that counts, not the actual cutting of waste, fraud, and abuse.

Penn State and Joe Paterno

Posted by madjillmom on November 10, 2011

Just heard Geraldo rant on about how Joe Paterno should have known about Sandusky’s pedophilia.  Somehow I have the feeling that Penn State is covering its collective ass by firing Joe Paterno.  If Joe Paterno took the issue of an assault witnessed by another current coach to his supervisors, then I am not certain he should have been canned.

Rape is a crime.  What is Penn State’s written procedure for handling a rape on campus?  Are all faculty informed of the procedures to take when a crime has been witnessed?  Universities often handle such things as sexual assault in house and then choose not to call it what it is in their crime stats. Did Penn State officials give Joe Paterno a pass on taking the training on reporting crimes because he was the vaunted football coach.   It sounds to me like officials dropped the ball on this one.  Since Joe Paterno did not witness the sexual assault, was he supposed to be the one to report it to the authorities? It seems to me that grad student should have reported the assault to the authorities.  Why he wasn’t interviewed by Campus or Community Police is strange and might be evidence of a cover-up.

This whole thing is awful, but we should remind the Trustees/Board Members that someone is innocent until proven guilty.  At this point, it seems that 4 people have been fired, and only one of them has been indicted for a crime.  Since the board knew that students were protesting already, didn’t they consider the possibility of a riot when they rushed to judgement.

It seems the least that could have happened was to investigate the entire issue and then decide who did what when.  Then if Joe Paterno did something wrong that is a firing offense.

No excuse for students to riot, but it really appears that Joe Paterno did not get due process in this firing.  It feels to me like the board is hanging these people out to dry to keep the investigation from going further.
