It is a bit strange to have your 21-year-old son text you to tell you that Davy Jones is dead. I was 10 when the TV show came out and my older sister and I were glued to the black and white TV every Monday night at 6:30. No, Davy wasn’t my favorite. Mickey Dolenz was my favorite. Peter Tork was my sister’s favorite.
Fast forward 20 plus years and reruns on TV Land or something else were taped and played for my three sons. They enjoyed it. We would listen to the Monkee’s cassette on the car radio.
Flash forward another many years. Our oldest son is a plebe at West Point, ushering at Eisenhower Hall theater when Mickey Dolenz comes to play in Charlemagne. After the production, my son goes backstage and tell Mickey that he is his mother’s favorite. My son had him sign the playbill/program. I am pretty certain he may have been the only plebe there that knew who Mickey Dolenz was.
A little flash forward again to about a year ago. Helping our oldest son get settled into life at Ft. Campbell, KY and getting him a place to live off post in Clarksville, TN. Driving the sites to see, including the train depot featured in “The Last Train to Clarksville”.

In PresBO’s groveling apology to Hamid “Goats are Pretty” Karzai, he signaled that he was willing to punish those responsible for this offense of burning the Koran. Obama told Karzai “I assure you that we will take the appropriate steps to avoid any recurrence, to include holding accountable those responsible.”
Now, Karzai is asking that the servicemen responsible for this act be tried in Afghanistan and punished. I guess that would mean cutting off their heads. So Obama offers to hold them responsible and Karzai wants heads on a platter.
Bowing and apologizing may be second nature to some one like PresBO, but it doesn’t come easy to the servicemen and women who have sacrificed to be in Afghanistan. We are slow learners and optimists, which explains why we have been there for 10 years. Now we need to get out and let the country go back to hell. Same with Karzai.
One million fought in the Iraq War. About 50 of these people are invited to the White House this week to have dinner. One from each state, hand-picked by the heads of each service. I wonder if this has been done before? Thanks for sacrificing for this country and the people of Iraq. Thanks for bearing hardship, living in hovels, getting shot at, watching your friends die, and missing your family. Here, have a Filet Mignon with PresBO and Michele.
This experience is billed as just the beginning of the thanks coming their way. Maybe all the rest of the million will get I-Pods with PresBO’s speeches on it.

Remember around this time last year, PresBO came out and said there would be military bombing in Libya to help the insurgents. The main reason given was because Krazy Kol. Khadafi was killing his own people. In we went, with added costs and a much longer engagement than was promised in those early days.
Now, we are finally seeing some of the killing going on in Syria. Western journalists are there and 7300 is the current death count. Now, Assad’s forces have killed an American Journalist. Secretary of State Hillary is meeting with the Friends of Syria and there is a show of talk and condemnation, but no bombs from American planes. What is the difference between the two countries and Obama’s reaction to them?
When we first went into Iraq, there were some officials and some evidence that Saddam Hussein sent shipments of weapons of mass destruction to Syria so they would not be found. Ever since that time, Democrats have raked Bush over the coals about “lies about WMD” that were used to get us into the Iraq War.
Could this be one of the reasons that we do not do what we did in Libya? If the current dictator was overthrown, could something embarrassing come to light about hidden WMDs? If WMDs were found in Syria, who would gain and who would lose?
Another oppressive, horrible man runs Syria. He is the son of his horrible oppressive dad who slaughtered 10,000 of his people in the early ’80s. I guess the son is trying hard to be as horrible as his father. I am not advocating intervention, I just question why Obama isn’t sending in the planes.
I doubt you think you should apologize for the death of two American’s this week. You know, the ones that were killed by a member of the Afghan Defense force as a result of the burning of the Koran? Aren’t Afghan forces under your ultimate control?
I know you were happy to have Pres. Obama grovel and condemn the burning, a probable inadvertent act done to already desecrated Korans by Muslim prisoners.
When stuff like this happens, when your people go crazy and you quietly do almost nothing to stop it, I want to pull out of Afghanistan and never let another American lose his or her life because of your backward country and religion.
Remember, when we leave, 98 percent of your economy leaves with us. I know, you’ve got a Swiss bank account with lots of money in it. My only hope now is that you don’t make it on the first plane out after we leave. When your countrymen and the extremist elements in your armed forces turn on you, string you up, stone you or cut off you head with that very attractive hat on it, I will give a little cheer. You weren’t worth one American life. Go back to the stone age, Afghanistan.
Democrats have told us for years that we cannot drill our way out of this mess. Drilling in ANWR (Alaska National Wildlife Refuge) is not the answer because it will take years (6 to 10) before that oil is on the market pulling the price of gasoline down. This has been on of the reasons given for twenty years. A similar meme is spouted as a reason not to build the XL Pipeline. It won’t do anything in the short-term.
New Spin:
PresBO and his Minions tout the fact that US oil production has grown since he has been president. This includes the time of moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico.
Truth: It does take several years to get the oil to market through state and national permitting. So the increase in production is due to the Bush Administration. Plus there is no increase in oil production on land controlled or owned by the US. This the stuff that is controlled by the Obama administration. The increase in production is on state controlled and private land.
In the PresBO alternate reality, he and his administration take a victory lap and slip on a little oily spot.
Once or twice a year, an incident happens regarding the Koran. Someone threatens to burn it, someone defiles it in some way, and the Muslim world goes ape. This time, 2 US troops have been killed because of it. There is extensive rioting on the streets in Afghanistan. Phone calls and apologies go forth to ass unborn lambskin hat Karzai who does nothing. Is there no self-control for all these crazy Muslims? Will a CAIR spokesman come and tell us how sorry he is that something like this results in so many deaths. More Muslim deaths and more American deaths. I wouldn’t touch a Koran because I might get my head chopped off if I sneezed on it.
Seven of our nation’s finest men have perished when two helecopters collided near Yuma, Arizona. The brave souls were training in service to our once great nation. How sad for us all and their loved ones.
The weren’t soaking in a tub, preparing for a ritzy Grammy Party. They surely hadn’t taken pills and mixed it with alcohol before taking a nice bubble bath in a ritzy hotel.
