Colorado Fires vs. Texas Fires
Posted by madjillmom on June 29, 2012
I am concerned about the emotional, financial, and ecological disaster happening in Colorado these past few weeks. It is heartbreaking that so many are losing so much. After ignoring the issue for a few weeks, Obama has gone to Colorado to hold hands and praise the responders, feel the pain of the victims, and have a few photo ops. I wonder if he is going to a fundraiser somewhere nearby.
Contrast this with last year’s bad fire in Bastrop, TX. Wikipedia quote:
On Sunday, September 4, 2011, a firestorm known as the Bastrop County Complex Fire engulfed Bastrop, Texas and by September 30 had destroyed 1,645 homes, burned 34,068 acres, and killed two people.[5] This fire is now regarded as the most catastrophic wildfire in Texas history.[6]
I checked to see if Obama came down to Bastrop and held hands, consoled victims, had some photo ops or something similar. He did come to Austin, a few miles away for a fundraiser. He and his administration did not issue disaster declarations for the Texas fires until months after the request.
So honestly, what is the difference. Obama has no hope of winning Texas in November. Even if he gives away Dream Act goodies to lots of illegals. Obama does need to win Colorado in November. That is the difference.
