Screaming on the Inside

Connecticut School Shooting

Posted by madjillmom on December 14, 2012

As the mother of three young men in active military service, I know there is a risk of a knock on the door and unbearable news coming into our lives. Sending your children off to elementary school is not the same thing. I will pray for those too young and innocent, too soon gone. I pray for their families.

Now there is word that the shooter might have been the son of a teacher. Where did he get the idea that he was such a victim that he needed to kill others on the way out? Could it be our culture that tells you nothing is your own fault? Could it be our culture that tells us that our last minutes can make headlines? Can it be video games and movies that glorify lots of deviant behaviour?

I know this will be blamed mostly on the guns. Guns don’t kill people, crazy people kill people. This young man chose to do this.  Let’s blame him. Let’s blame the Aurora shooter. Let blame the Portland Mall shooter.

The left is already blaming guns. Because everything at any point in time is a reason to advance their agenda. Never mind that gun laws mean nothing to someone who plans on committing suicide already. How come that is never brought up?

This is another case of someone who has been and was troubled for some time. It was no single event that caused this guy to go over the edge.

I watched a show where there was some kid in Alabama that killed 5 or more people at a school. There were signs that this kid was nuts. He took the family dog, which he grew up with, beat it with a bad, stabbed it 19 times then lit it on fire –in the house. His parents said that they figured he was going through teen troubles. The parents had to have also had a few screws loose to assume that torturing the family dog represents “teen troubles.”

This is not the story I’m talking about, but look at the similarities. What’s next?

The truth is that there is no way to stop someone who is determined to do something like this. They will find a way. The only thing that can be done is to make sure that other people are trained to better prevent insane individuals like this guy from achieving their goals.
