I have been regularly doing searches about the oil spill and the claims process. As of my search today, I can say that there are a few things that pop up asking people to call CNN or other outlets if they have submitted a claim or have looked for a job helping with the spill. Further, now there are numerous law firms offering to “help” with claims.
Strangely, the is no independent site for the BP Escrow Account. Currently, there is only the BP branded site for submitting a claim. This is well after Ken Feinberg was chosen to head up the independent group to pay claims from the BP Escrow Account. Feinberg has been all over the TV talking about speeding up the claims process, yet there is no independent site for turning in the claim directly to them. People still have to go to a BP site. Since Ken Feinberg has done this sort of thing before, are claims going to be handled out of the offices listed on the BP site, or are the claims going to be handled by new or old people Feinberg brings in? Will the claims be handled by the group that handled the 9/11 compensation? No one thinks that the compensation for victims of 9/11 was swift.
Further, I am still waiting on the terrible pictures of beaches covered in ooze. There hasn’t been anything really gross in that area. They show lots of orange stuff in the gulf with flyover pictures, but there have only been mostly small areas of oil/tar balls on the beaches with crews of people with plastic bags and white jumpsuits. Fox is now reporting tarballs on the Texas Coast. Ping pong ball sized tarballs in the surf off Crystal Beach. I will bet you that there is a lot more garbage from 4th of July picnics than tarballs. Bet the workers dispatched to pick up tarballs aren’t allowed to pick up picnic garbage.

The Obama administration and Sec. of the Interior have doubled down on a moratorium on offshore drilling (supposedly only on deep drilling), and the federal courts have pushed back. Remember when Obama said he would send out swat teams. That was the only thing he should have done. Send out inspection teams to review the hardware and drilling plans. The industry has a more than strong suspicion what caused and contributed to this disaster. They knew this within a few weeks of the spill. Do you think that the industry, knowing what was happening, was doing the same thing BP did, or planning on using the same techniques BP did? It would be suicide. Drilling operators and their Boards went into overdrive to make sure this won’t happen on their rigs. But Obama doesn’t understand this. He hasn’t ever worked in the private sector. He needs to shut down drilling to appease his left flank. He needs to pass Cap and Tax. He doesn’t care about jobs on the gulf coast. He wants the price of gasoline to go up. He wants you to drive less, pay more for your groceries, take the train, pay a carbon tax, and suffer.

I guess that the congressional committee wanted to offend the populace of Britain. Not to mention screwing pensioners all other the world.
I believe they should have known that the BP’s people would not be able to say too much about their liability in the Oil Spill. No one should believe otherwise.
BP has more American employees than British employees.
Was it worth it to get your ugly mug on television, Mr. Waxman? I do not think so. Did it do anything to help the people of the gulf coast or stop the oil? No.

One of the Oval Office speech points was that the President called together all the smartest experts to try to figure out what to do about the horrible, awful oil spill. Their recommendation somewhere around day 55 was essentially “Do more and go faster”. Thank goodness the President was wise enough to call upon this brain trust. Thank goodness it was a slow but giant oil leak and not a dirty bomb in a major city.

Basically, Pres. Obama, orator of the century, is telling us that his only fix is a new level or bureaucrats and a few more committees. Wonder how much oil they will suck up?
Then about twice a day, another democrat or two advises him to confiscate BP or force the company not to pay a dividend. So what if this isn’t constitutional. Wait for the groundswell.
The AP fact checked the President’s speech. Not good for Obama.
Tax us all for innovation in the green energy movement. Throw confiscated money at various possibles. Make us pay through the nose. Kill off any anemic recovery. Do all this while China and India don’t stifle their economies and continue to pollute. Bring America to its knees. Why? What do they have to gain?
Confiscate an escrow fund from BP and turn it over to ACORN???? to administer? I don’t trust the Dems to not make that a political slush fund. Watcg who is put in charge of this boondoggle. Hold tight.
Way to go, Pres. Obama.
While we are concentrating on the oil spill, miss the bad news of the cost of Obamacare.

A few clips I saw today showed noticeable gray in Obama’s short hair. This has happened before. Perhaps he is spending too much time on the golf course and it is bleaching it. Nah. This happens. But I predict that this time it will stay, not be “Just for Men”ed away. He needs it to show us all just how concerned he really is about this terrible situation, the ecological nightmare in the gulf. See, while he was golfing, his hair was showing us just how this is foremost on his mind.

The President used his pulpit this weekend to make a comparison of the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico to 9/11.
Yes, both of these things were terrible. Both impact many people. In 9/11, thousands died. In the BP catastrophe in the Gulf, 11 people died. The spill in the Gulf was not terrorism. It wasn’t even eco-terrorism. This was indeed a man-caused disaster. Can you see that, Janet Napolitano? It was quite probably negligence. We don’t have all the facts. The courts will decide this sometime in the future. It was an accident. No one at BP (or Haliburton or TransOcean) wanted this to happen. They are trying hard to fix it. I believe that they are trying hard in the face of animosity and ass-covering by the administration, to make people whole. BP is not Bin Laden.
Now the Obama administration is demanding an escrow account be administered by other than BP to pay claims to those injured in this terrible time. OK. Should this happen? If the government oversees this fund, will we see lots of bogus claims and government credit cards used at Strip Clubs like we did after Katrina. Who will verify that claims are not fraudulent? The government that has been promising to stop the fraud at Medicare for years? How is that working out?
The liberals complain regularly that Bush used 9/11 to take away some of our freedoms. What is Obama doing with the Oil Spill? Carbon tax anyone? Retroactive laws anyone?
I know people are hurting. This stuff takes time. Claims will be paid. If they aren’t, further damages will be awarded. Interestingly, I went on the BP website for the spill. Claim forms come in three languages. English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Why? If you are an illegal immigrant working at a gulf coast hotel, will the government demand you be paid wages lost?

The experts consulted by the administration did not advocate a moratorium on offshore drilling. The administration has had to apologize for adding their recommendation/conclusion to the report after the fact.
Isn’t this what they accused Bush of doing to justify the “unnecessary” war in Iraq. WMDs anyone. You know, the propaganda used to go to war. The same propaganda the possible new DNI believes in.

Once again, the President and administration are so eager to talk down the price of BP stock. Unintended consequence is dive in the value of many UK pensions as well as the pensions of teachers and government employees across the US.
Talk it down so you can score on a carbon tax. Send fragile economy into tailspin. Why? The paranoid in me can see the street riots and bread lines on the horizon.
Actual plan or just ineptness? Can’t say. Wishing for ineptness.

We have been told repeatedly that the Obama administration’s highest priority is taking care of the oil spill. However, we now find out that only today, over 50 days after the start of the spill, the President has requested daily briefings on the spill. That certainly shows that the administration is serious about this situation. On top of it since day one. Just not briefed daily until today.
I wonder if it took 50 days for the Obama campaign to deposit the contribution checks from BP executives? I think not.
