Listened to quite a bit of the State of the Union.
He says we must close Guantanamo because of the Constitution. Oh, and he must go around congress with his mighty pen because that Constitution (and its checks and balances) isn’t such a big deal.

Military Tribunals and the Obama Apology

The Obama administration is now deciding to try those detained for terrorist acts in military tribunals. It only took them a little over 2 years to come to that conclusion. Attorney General Eric Holder says that he still believes that his way is better because he knows better.
President Obama immediately called Pres. Bush and profusely apologized for demonizing them for the same opinions. Yeah, right. I’m sure that happened.

Realtime Intelligence and the Undie Bomber

By the time the Dept. of Justice goes to trial and makes a deal with or against the Undie Bomber, all information he can impart about his brother terrorists will be too old to be of any help. Sorry, but I fall on the side of enhanced interrogation techniques to finger the people “hung” with before he burned it off.
I also look forward to the kvetching of the detainees from Guantanamo will be doing after they are moved to Illinois and fed three meals a day for $2 instead of the near royal treatment they now have in the tropics.

Guantanamo As a Jihadi Recruiting Tool

If you thought GITMO was a recruiting tool for terrorism, now there is an even better tool to recruit for good positions in the terrorist groups of tomorrow. Get detained, go to Bermuda. Wow. Where can I sign up? The Afghans are lining up a Bagram to get their tickets to paradise. No, not the one with 72 virgins, the one with the beach and free flowing American Taxpayer’s money.

Terrorist Jury Duty

When Attorney General Eric Holder transfers all the enemy combatants/detainees from Guantanamo to a jurisdiction near you, will you serve on a jury when the Obama adminstation sets up criminal or civil trials for them? How will you avoid it? You will immediately be sequestered if you are chosen. You might make $10 a day. Can Obama keep your family safe? Will you care if the US is subject to anti-American sentiments while you sit in judgement of some detainee?
What if there is no way to have a jury? Will Eric Holder and Obama make the argument that we must let them go? I think this might the the ultimate goal.

No More “Enemy Combatants” except maybe Rush, Cramer, Santelli …

Pres. Obama now is changing the names of the innocent in his epic year long quest to close Guantanamo. The administration only took 50 days to come up with this important milestone along the long road (315 more days) to closing Guantanamo.
Since it is clear that the Obama administration and the willing MSM press are happy about Obama’s enemies list, perhaps it will now be OK to refer to Rush Limbaugh, Rick Santelli, Jim Cramer and all future enemies of the administration as “enemy combatants”.

Logic Puzzle – Put these Events in Order

I remember some of my school busy work. Sometimes you were given a worksheet and told to put the events in the proper order. Did Pres. Obama and his cabinet have the same kind of worksheets.
Put these events in a logical order:
- Pres. Obama announces he will close Guantanamo – campaign promise fulfilled
- Drop charges against al-Nashiri, one of the masterminds of the USS Cole bombing
- Meet with the Families of the Cole and some 9/11 families and assures them administration will review all detainees files before deciding what to do about closing Guantanamo
- Put out report that Guantanamo is up to Geneva Convention standards
- Release Binyam Mohamed to UK – no real explanation given, was his file reviewed?
- Announce Bagram detainees have no constitutional rights – same as Guantanamo detainees
- Send AG Eric Holder to Guantanamo – no press allowed – to check on the situation
It seems to me that the Obama adminsitration shoots first, then asks question later. Or rather annouces policy, then studies the situation. Wasn’t this the charge always leveled against Pres. Bush.
Who in the Obama administration/transition team went to Guantanamo prior to AG Eric Holder’s visit? Why was no press allowed on the Holder trip? Would they have asked him questions about his coward remark?
I do not think that anyone can put the events in order because the proper thoughtful order would eliminate the first event. Study the issue first than decide what to do about it. That is what I would tell my kids.

Closing Guantanamo

Pres. Obama has decided to close Guantanamo. One of the lefts’ justification is that Guantanamo is a recruiting tool for the jihadist who want to hurt us, therefore Guantanamo hurts us. This same argument can be made about Hollywood. Hollywood movies either depict immoral western society or anti-war prospectives. In both cases, they are a recruiting tool for the jihadists. Maybe we should shut down Hollywood at the end of the year.
